The short version
CobraScout is free to use and we never ask you for payment. We are paid by the licensed insurance agency your call is connected to, for connecting you. That payment is per qualified call — it does not depend on whether you buy anything.
What that relationship could influence
Being paid by one agency means the plans discussed on your call are the plans that agency is appointed to sell. That is not every plan on the market. We say so plainly rather than claiming to compare everything, because claiming to compare everything is the single most common deceptive practice in this industry and it is what regulators pursue.
You can always compare plans yourself at HealthCare.gov or your state's marketplace, free and without speaking to anyone. We will tell you that on the call too.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or share your information with multiple buyers. Your call goes to a single licensed insurance agency and nowhere else.
- We do not run a bidding process for your call.
- We do not publish rankings, "best plan" lists or comparison verdicts. A site paid to route calls to one agency cannot honestly present itself as an independent reviewer, so we do not try.
- We do not accept payment from any insurance company to feature it.
- We do not use testimonials, star ratings or customer counts. If we cannot source a number, it does not go on the site.
Common questions
Is this free?
Yes. There is never a charge to you, and nobody will ask you for payment or card details.
Who pays you?
The licensed insurance agency your call is connected to. We are paid for the connection, not for a sale.
Are you paid more if I buy something?
No. Payment is per qualified call and does not depend on whether you purchase anything. That is deliberate — it removes the incentive to push a sale.
Do you sell my information?
No. We do not sell, rent or share caller information. Your call goes to a single licensed insurance agency and nowhere else.
Can I compare plans without calling?
Yes, and we will say so on the call. HealthCare.gov and the state marketplaces are free to use and you never have to speak to anyone.
Talk it through with a licensed agent
Which option is right depends on your state, your income and which doctors you need to keep. A licensed agent can walk through it with you in about eight minutes.
Free to call, no obligation, and we never ask you for payment. CobraScout is paid by the agency that answers, not by you. TTY 711.
